Dr Lynne Smith of Prospect Psychology in Wollongong

Sessions are 60 minutes in duration and cost $190. Currently both face-to-face and video sessions are available. Fees are payable at the time of consultation, and EFTPOS and HICAPS facilities are available. There is no need for a referral for an appointment (unless you are coming under Medicare), so simply call for an appointment time.

Medicare: If you have a valid referral and a Mental Health Care Plan from your General Practitioner, Medicare covers $129.55 per 50-minute session for a maximum of 20 sessions per calendar year. In order to be eligible to claim the rebate, as well as a Mental Health Care Plan, you will need to obtain a valid referral letter from your GP. The referral letter must be addressed to the treating psychologist, stating that the psychologist you wish to see can treat you under the Mental Health Care Plan for a specified number of sessions (up to a maximum of six sessions per referral). Providing you have a Medicare card, the Medicare rebate can be claimed in the session after full payment.

This practice does NOT offer bulk-billing.

Private Health Insurance: If you have extras cover, you may be able to claim part of the fees back from your health fund. In many cases, this can significantly reduce the cost of sessions. Since the amount you can claim back varies from fund to fund, and from cover to cover, it’s often good to check your entitlements with your health fund before commencing therapy. However, you cannot use your private health cover to top up the Medicare rebates for these services. You will need to choose whether you want to claim through your Private Health Fund or through Medicare.

Cancellation Policy: Clients are asked to provide a business day’s notice to cancel a session. Missing a session without the specified notice will incur a fee of $100 for the missed session.
